May 11 Razorback Boys advance to title game When the Batesburg-Leesville High School boys soccer team made its way to the Upstate on Saturday afternoon, plenty of fond memories must have filled the team bus for the Panthers, who knocked Walhalla out of the playoffs a season ago at the Walhalla Soccer Stadium. But that memory seemed to resonate just as strong for the Razorbacks, who returned the favor from a year ago by defeating the Panthers by a final score 1-0 to eliminate Batesburg-Leesville from the postseason, and advance to the Upper State title game on Tuesday at Emerald.
May 11 Lady Razorbacks to play for Upper-State After three scoreless overtimes and two series of penalty kicks, the Walhalla High School girls soccer team defeated Christ Church 2-1 Friday night in Greenville to advance to the Upper State Championship game on Monday at Woodruff. After the teams each hit four shots in the opening round of penalty kicks, Cori Cruz nailed what proved to be the game-winning penalty kick to start the second session, as Christ Church was unable to connect on its ensuing do-or-die shot. The Razorbacks nearly didn't make it to overtime after Christ Church got on the scoreboard early in the second half, but Phoebe Walker, a senior, hit a goal with 28 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.
